Shimtech Composites Expands into Mexico

London, United Kingdom. Shimtech Industries Limited, the international aerospace group today announces a major expansion of its Composites division with the establishment of a planned new state-of-the-art aerospace component fabrication and assembly facility in Mexico.

The planned new greenfield manufacturing facility will be located in the City of Hermosillo, in the state of Sonora, NW Mexico.  It will adopt the latest Lean principles and will make use of advanced digital work flow management tools to maximize production efficiencies and to minimize manufacturing flow time.

The initial phase of the project will encompass the start-up of airframe sub-assembly work.  Subsequent phases will see a major expansion of productive capacity to include the planned fabrication of various light-weight, fiber-reinforced structures including fairings, flight control structures and other detail parts as part of a major investment program.

Speaking of the planned expansion, Shimtech CEO, Howard Kimberley, said:
