Material Information

Shimtech can supply a complete range of solid, semi and fully laminated materials that are compliant to industry standard specifications for the UK (British Standard), Europe and North America.

These include customer-specific standard material/part number designations, as well as US military (AMS) specifications (Note: MIL-S-22499 has been superseded by AMS-DTL-22499).

We manufacture all of our own laminated material for conversion into detail parts (using a variety of processes) or for sale as sheets. Standard sheet sizes are 610mm (24”) x 1220mm (48”).  We have particular expertise in composites, and are the only Gap Management business in the world to fabricate all of our own material.

Our manufacturing systems use proprietary processes involving the application of heat, pressure and adhesive to individual foils of material in thicknesses varying from 0.025mm (0.001”) to 0.1mm (0.004”), to produce laminated sheets.

Laminated sheets and detailed parts can be backed with solid material in various thicknesses to suit particular applications and can be supplied in a range of peel strengths.

Laminated sheet thicknesses vary from 0.15 mm (0.006”) to 12.7mm (0.5”).

We stock a wide range of material types (across multiple strategic inventory locations) including:-
